Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund

The Temple Israel Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund has been the private way Temple Israel rabbis, at their discretion, help those in our community and congregation who are in need of financial assistance. The fund operates entirely on your generosity.

Rambam, also known as Maimonides, the 12th Century rabbinic scholar and commentator, said that the greatest way to give charity is to help a person find lasting work so they will no longer need charity. The second best way to give Tzedakah is to give so that the donor and the recipient do not know each other. Helping our fellow congregants through the Discretionary Fund achieves this goal.
