Dear Friends,
As we approach the High Holidays, and the beginning of a new year in the Jewish calendar, I want to take this time to welcome everyone to our TI family.
We are all so busy with things that herald change right now: the start of school; the end of Summer; the return to colder temperatures, shorter days, darker nights; the falling of the leaves; the return of pumpkin everything! Yet, in all the whirlwind, we shouldn’t overlook moments of calm: stunning sunsets; return to routine; the peace and serenity that accompany moments of personal reflection.
Elul, the month preceding the High Holidays, is the time for just such moments. We look at what we have done. What we want to do. Where we have gone. Where we want to go. How we get there. Who we may need to forgive along the way. It is the time to look back and look ahead. To think about our plans and how to achieve them. To be on a personal, spiritual and–together–a community journey.
When you enter our sanctuary, you cannot help but feel “Elul” in the air. The refurbished interior. The beautiful dome. The stained glass doors to the ark. The ancient prayers. The traditional tunes. The music of the harp and timbrels (guitar, piano and tambourines in our case). All contribute to our ability to find moments of calm amidst the chaos.
Please join us in our beautiful Synagogue to find your inner peace, in Elul, and always. May this new year find us happy and healthy.
