Dear Friends,
Temple Israel has ushered in our new year with a flurry of activities. The High Holiday services were, spiritual, meaningful, and traditional. Yom Kippur ended on a high note, as we joined together with friends, family, and fellow congregants to “break fast.” On Simchat Torah, the unraveling of our special Torah scroll from Israel, dedicated by Diane Rabinowitz, and in remembrance of the plight of the hostages, brought many of our Midrasha families and congregants together to hold all of the pieces of the entire Torah scroll as we encircled the sanctuary.
Mazel Tov to Sam Whalen and Sofia Kaplan, and their families, on their Bar/Bat Mitzvahs. Sam and Sofia each added much joy and vibrancy in leading our Shabbat services. Every Shabbat is special, however our Bar/Bat Mitzvahs allows us to truly see the connection of Judaism from generation to generation “Dor va Dor”.
On behalf of our congregation I say Mazel Tov to Jane Messinger on her assuming the presidency of the Friedman JCC. Jane with her integral role supporting our Temple, will now additionally bring her leadership strengths to the JCC
Every Shabbat is a gift that as Jews we should embrace, helping us to tune out the pressures of the week and focus on our beautiful prayers with a very musical service. There are many more events to take place, please consider participating.
I look forward to greeting you on Shabbat and beyond,
Debbie Troy
